Settle

The historic market hub of the Three Peaks

Settle serves as the primary service centre for the Yorkshire Three Peaks region. Chartered in 1249, the town's economy has evolved from wool trading to tourism, supported by its position on the A65 and its rail link to Leeds and Carlisle.

The Folly (Museum of North Craven Life)

A Grade I listed 17th-century building housing exhibits on 12,000 years of human activity in the Dales. The Folly is one of the most architecturally striking buildings in the region, with its ornate facade overlooking the town centre.

Victoria Hall

The world's oldest surviving music hall, Victoria Hall continues to host arts and community events. Check their programme for live performances, film screenings, and local events during your visit.

Castleberg Crag

A 63-metre limestone cliff overlooking the marketplace, offering accessible viewpoints via historic zig-zag paths. The short climb rewards you with panoramic views over the town and the surrounding Dales landscape.

Hoffmann Kiln

A significant relic of the area's industrial heritage, the Hoffmann Kiln was once used for large-scale lime burning. The restored kiln offers a fascinating glimpse into the industrial processes that shaped this landscape.

Eating and Drinking

Settle has a good selection of cafes, pubs, and restaurants along its main street and market square. The town is well-provisioned for walkers stocking up before or refuelling after the Three Peaks.
