Ingleton is the primary adventure hub of the Yorkshire Dales, famous for its unique geological "karst" landscape. The village sits at the confluence of two rivers and offers some of the most dramatic natural attractions in the region.
Ingleton Waterfalls Trail
Opened as a commercial attraction in 1885, this 4.5-mile trail passes through ancient oak woodland and follows the Rivers Twiss and Doe. The trail features a series of spectacular waterfalls and is one of the most popular walks in the Dales outside of the Three Peaks itself.
White Scar Caves
The longest show cave in Britain, White Scar Caves features the impressive "Battlefield Cavern" (90m long), which is one of the largest cave chambers in the country. A guided tour takes you deep underground to see stalactites, stalagmites, and underground waterfalls.
Ingleborough Cave
Discovered by Victorian explorers in 1837, Ingleborough Cave features well-lit concrete paths past spectacular stalactites. The cave is also the site of Ice Age discoveries, including remains of the woolly rhinoceros.
Gaping Gill
A world-renowned pothole where Fell Beck falls 110m into a chamber large enough to fit a cathedral. Public descents via winch are organised by local caving clubs during May and August bank holidays. An extraordinary experience for the adventurous visitor.
