More surfacing news!

Post by mac.hawk » 30 Aug 2016, 19:20

Today it was the Whernside leg from Ribblehead which reveals a substantial improvement underfoot on 2 sections of the walk.

Firstly the rise up Slack Hill (a little way after passing the aqueduct) up to the stile that takes you NW to Grain Head, which had previously been very badly rutted and very badly eroded has had a top-coating of of shale applied now making it a nice level path that heads uphill.

Secondly, after descending Whernside to Bruntscar, where the bridleway reaches the road adjacent the farm, the tarmac road from here to Low Sleights Road has been completely resurfaced.

Another observation is that, sadly, people are still walking off perfectly good footpaths and using the adjacent grassy section resulting totally unnecessary erosion something that is very expensive to correct!

I hope to walk the Horton to Ribblehead section over PyG next week and will report any changes.
