Northern Rail currently have a discount offer in conjunction With Johnston Press. Johnston Press produce many of the northern regional newspapers (Yorkshire Evening Post, Morpeth Herald, Burnley Express, Worksop Guardian etc etc).
For details visit the following web-link http://www.northernrail.org/jpress and the next web-link will tell you when each paper will publish an edition with a token in http://www.northernrail.org/jpress/newspapers.
Basically, collect 2 tokens (i.e. you need to buy 2 papers) and up to 4 people can travel anywhere on a specified day on the Northern Rail system for a flat fare of £10 each or over a Sat/Sun period for £17.50 each.
You need to be sharpish though as the papers stop printing the tokens this Saturday (6th Feb 2016).
The discounted tickets can be used from the present until Sunday 20th March - excluding 13 - 21 February 2016 (inclusive) period.
You might need to register with Northern Rail to have this offer available.
Of course this offer doesn't just apply to the 3 Peaks area but it offers great savings and as these are Ranger tickets you can 'jump' from train to train, So, for example, with a Saturday crack of dawn train start from Tyneside, South Yorkshire, Manchester, West Yorkshire etc you could take a morning clonk up one of the 3 Peaks, get a further train up the line and grab Great Knoutberry, Nine Standards, Dufton Pike etc in the afternoon and save a fortune in rail fare.
