Buses and trains

Post by sasonach » 20 Jul 2013, 20:30

Hi,

Myself and a group of friends are planning to try the Y3P challenge on 27th August. As its our first time I was just wondering about buses/trains in case we are struggling.

What are the routes/times if anyone knows and doesn't mind helping a novice out!

Thanks!

These are detailed in 'The Guide' but basically you can forget about the bus. The relevant rail stations (Horton in Ribblesdale or Ribblehead) are on the Leeds to Carlisle line run by Northern. The train timetable is available here http://www.northernrail.org/travel/timetables/848700 and choose the Leeds-Carlisle timetable.

The challenge is very do-able by using the rail service as I can personally attest.

'The Guide' also details 'jump out points' both for walking to return stations and for vehicular access (i.e. car pickup/taxi).
