Landslip on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line

A major landslip just north of Armathwaite station has resulted in all rail services along the line now starting/ending at Appleby. All the usual advertised times appear to be running between Appleby & Leeds however a bus replacement service operates between Appleby & Carlisle.

From a 3 Peaks point of view this has no impact from the southern (Leeds) end but from the Carlisle end it means additional earlier journey time of between 25 & 50 minutes depending on if your starting from Carlisle or one of the intermediate stations.

Please visit the Northern Rail website for current timetables (currently being issued on a weekly basis) http://www.northernrail.org/ (try the News section).

This looks likely to be fairly lengthy process to repair see http://www.networkrail.co.uk/news/2016/ ... -landslip/

Finally, there's ongoing engineering work on the line at the West Yorkshire end every Sunday until 27th March with rail replacement bus services in operation, check the Northern Rail website for details.
