A Horton to Ribblehead+ walk today

Post by mac.hawk » 12 Feb 2016, 23:27

A walk through Horton village today at 12 noon (Friday 12th Feb 2016) revealed that the PyG cafe was shut, signage on the window indicated that it was open weekends only in January but nothing to indicate when it might be open beyond that.

The mobile convenience store 'van', usually at the end of the lane beyond the Golden Lion pub, was noticeable by it's absence.

I suspect the former is seasonal but the latter............................?

The toilets in Horton are currently closed for refurbishment but there are two Portaloo's adjacent the closed toilets.

The area on the approach to Brackenbottom Scar (from Brackenbottom) is currently very muddy/eroded (quite worryingly so).

The wall adjacent the gate atop the step stile on the approach to Brackenbottom Scar still needs attention (see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=403 for futher details).

The surfaced route over Whitber & Sell Gill Hills has several sections where the shale top has been washed away and the base matting is evident (not good).

There's a new waymarker post at Nether Lodge indicating the 3 Peaks RoW route over the footbridge over Ling Gill Beck.

All four Feb 2016 versions of 'The Guide' updated accordingly.
