2014 - 3 Peaks Events

Post by mac.hawk » 28 Jan 2014, 20:35

The annual 3 Peaks Race takes place on 26th April 2014.

The Oxfam Trailtrekker challenge passes through Horton on 31st May so expect the village to be busy. It looks like the route uses the Pennine Way off Fountains Fell to descend into Horton then continues to Cam Fell. Unlikely to affect Horton anti-clockwise 3 Peak starters but might impact on anyone starting from Ribblehead going anti-clockwise or those doing the Clockwise route from Horton.

Marie Curie and Heart Research have sponsored events on 21st June 2014 (Horton start).

The British Heart Foundation, the Alzheimer's Society and the Red Cross all have sponsored events on the 19th of July 2014 (Horton start).

The annual cyclo-cross race takes place at the end of September, although their website gives no specific date as yet.

Most late spring, summer & early autumn Saturdays have some sort of charity 3 Peak event starting at Horton.

Horton was packed on Sunday 22nd June. Rubbish everywhere - not really a pretty sight unfortunately. Penyghent summit was shocking as well. The aftermath of these charity events seems to cause untold problems.

It's the same in Fort William, Wasdale, Borrowdale etc as well at this time of year.
