Where would you spend £50k on the 3 Peaks route?
Well (taking the anti-clockwise route), the steep section off Whernside (the staircase) to the wall at the bottom of the 'staircase' (heading in the direction of Bruntscar) is probably about a 1/4 mile (400 metres) in length (steeply downhill) but current erosion caused by people veering off the stepped route over a number of years means it's going to cost the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority £50k to try and correct this erosion and provide a sustainable path suitable for all.
