A section of the usual route 3 Peakers take up/down Ingleborough will be closed for repair works from Monday 27th July 2020 until early January next year (although it's hoped work will be finished before then). The section is basically the top end of Humphrey Bottom and the 'staircase' (the top end of the path heading from/to Chapel-le-Dale).
If you've ascended/descended Ingleborough before you will be aware that the 'staircase' in particular is far too narrow to accommodate repair work and hikers at the same time, so for safety reasons this section will be closed to hikers.
The link underneath gives further details plus a map showing the suggested 'alternative' route.

I've been up the suggested alternative route once before and it's very steep at the final climb and without any foot holdings and not for the fainthearted, and I certainly wouldn't consider descending that way, unfortunately any other alternative requires a pretty large detour.
