Apologies mjp823, I forgot to add my email address in the original text (since rectified). I don't have access to your email address via this website so please email me at mac.hawk@ntlworld.com and I'll gladly send you the guides.

February 2013 version of 'The Guide' now available.

Avoiding the waffle of previous versions of the guide - view them to see what's on offer - the February 2013 version includes details of the new Wayposting on the route avoiding the bog and the details as mentioned in the previously posted 'Up-date to the Oct-Jan versions of the guide' These are fre...

Re: Novice walkers aiming for 3 peaks this spring

Richard has contacted me via the 'Guide' posting and I will be sending him copies of the latest version, however his request does raise a particular point that needs addressing. Undertaking the challenge with a minor does need some real consideration (yes, I know a 13 year old nowadays is going on 2...

Re: GPS Way points

The latest revision of the guide (April 2013) includes OS reference points which should be usable to most (all?) GPS users.

Re: CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP/ ADVISE?

The latest version of the guide should give you all the information you should need. 1. You can start from anywhere if you so wish..............it all depends on your timescale and your ability. Most people wishing to complete the challenge in the 12 hour timescale start at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Ri...

Re: CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP/ ADVISE?

Hi Curtis The problem here is the terminology of 'climb' or 'climbing', something I would associate with mountain climbing where you use hard hats, ropes, crampons, slings etc. If by 'climbing' you simply mean ascending on foot then the answer to your questions are 1. No 2. Yes 3. No The point I'm m...

Re: CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP/ ADVISE?

Have you got the correct 3 Peaks site, this is the site of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough) and not the 'National' one (Scarfell, Snowdon & Ben Nevis) and you wouldn't normally expect people to 'climb' them? By 'climb' I am assuming you do not mean 'walk' or 'hike' but...

Re: recording your challenge at the Cafe problem

Baring in mind my comment as previously posted, I have to say that whilst I appreciate they have to draw the line somewhere otherwise anyone could just turn up and say they'd done the challenge, this does seem a little harsh. Having an elated but tired child in tears can't be right and surely someth...

Re: First Time 3 Peaks

charlieslater 1. Totally agree 2. Totally disagree 3.Totally agree As for 2, you don't have to embrace the ROW on the hill, you can wander all over it. In the context of the 3 Peaks walk Whernside, if you start from Horton and do PyG first, it can seem somewhat tedious from leaving PyG summit across...

Re: is it drying up

Is it drying up - well, no. Heavy rain today (25.08.2012) has made the bog as wet as ever. The forecast is for more heavy rain on Bank Holiday Monday (27.08.2012). Been across, well no I conjecture that, I didn't actually go across 'the bog', just went to assess it today (from both ends - and that t...
