Re: Doing it together?

Maybe try looking a bit further afield for accommodation or utilise the Leeds - Carlisle rail line and see if there's anything available at one of the intermediate stops.

The timetable is at http://www.northernrail.org/pdfs/timeta ... 0416/7.pdf

Re: Doing it together?

I've covered this before and for the sake of repeating myself... It is not advisable for just one adult and a minor to undertake this challenge. Any adult has a responsibility to ensure that any minor in their care is safe. It's a 25 mile walk up/down 3 mountains and if one of the pair has a problem...

Up to Date!

Won't comment on 'The Best' but 'The Guide' (as available via this Forum) is as up to date as can be (currently in it's December 2014 version). I would also refer you to the post http://www.3peaks.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=69 on this Forum as it contains comments/advice regarding undertaking t...

Re: Buses and trains

These are detailed in 'The Guide' but basically you can forget about the bus. The relevant rail stations (Horton in Ribblesdale or Ribblehead) are on the Leeds to Carlisle line run by Northern. The train timetable is available here http://www.northernrail.org/travel/timetables/848700 and choose the L...

Re: Any tips for 4 Beginners?

I think Kelly-Adams has got her 3 Peaks mixed up, this sounds like the hurtle down the motorway doing Ben Nevis, Scafell & Snowdon job to me.

Re: Best route up Pen-Y-Ghent

It's not 'better' either way. The challenge is to summit all three peaks and return to your starting point, how you choose to accomplish this is entirely a matter of personal choice. However the practicalities are that in ascending PyG via the nose........... 1. If you have a problem with heights, t...
