Best route up Pen-Y-Ghent
When doing the 3 peaks starting with Pen-Y-Ghent, is it better to climb Pen-Y-Ghent via the 'nose' or to use the less steep route that goes to the left? How much extra distance does the less steep route add on?

I walked Horton to Ribblehead via Pen-y-Ghent and the new surfaced route yesterday, and it was fine until the end of the newly surfaced bit. The Pennine Way section with the wall on the left was a bit boggy, but OK. The worst bit was the small hill just after that, which was the stickiest thing I've...
